Bulldogs Ink Top Kansas Recruit for Fall 2025

Men's Tennis adds Francisco Landeras to the incoming recruiting class for next season's team.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Bulldogs announced the signing of Francisco Landeras, the No. 1 recruit from Kansas for the class of 2025. Landeras will join the team in the fall of this year.

"Speaking with Francisco during the recruiting process it became very clear his passion for tennis and his commitment to team, which will make him a great fit here at Drake," said head coach Justin Stuckey. "He is someone who is a hard worker. He has great quickness and mobility around the court and will have the ability to have different styles of play to help him be successful at the college level."

Along with the rank of top recruit in Kansas, Landeras was named a four-star recruit by Tennis Recruiting. His high esteem comes in part from stellar play in high school, attending Blue Valley West in Overland Park, Kansas where he's from. In high school, he won a singles and team state championship in Class 6A in Kansas as a junior. He also completed a dominant 33-0 season and finished as the state singles runner-up and third place as a freshman and sophomore.

Outside of high school competition, Landeras competed as a junior in USTA, where he notched several feats. He competed at the highest level in USTA tournaments, including Level 1 National Indoor, Level 1 Winter Nationals, Level 1 Brewer Team Cup, Level 1 Spring National and the Easter Bowl. He has been ranked as high as No. 58 in the nation by USTA, No. 4 in the Missouri Valley section and No. 3 in the Heart of America district.

"I am particularly driven to the Bulldogs for its excellent tennis program and student development," said Landeras.
