The Basics
The Drake women's soccer team is in the home stretch of its 2025 regular season with just three games remaining. This week the Bulldogs will play their final road game of the season on Thursday, Oct. 23 against Illinois State, who is tied for second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings, and then return home on Sunday, Oct. 26 to host Evansville.
Bulldogs by the Numbers
Drake currently sits at the top of the MVC table at 4-1-1 with 13 points. Overall, the Bulldogs post a record of 7-4-4 and are 2-1-1 in their last five matches. In its last time out, Drake defeated in-state rival UNI, 1-0, from Mediacom Stadium.
Zoey Mahoney lifted the Bulldogs to victory scoring the lone goal in the 82nd minute. Mahoney was honored as the MVC Defender of the Week earlier this week following her heroics against UNI. The junior also bolstered a Bulldogs backline that held the Panthers to just three shots in the match, all coming in the second half, and one shot on goal.

Scouting Illinois State
The Redbirds find themselves tied for second in the league standings with Southern Illinois compiling 10 points with a record of 2-0-4 in league play. Overall, Illinois State comes into the week holding a record of 5-4-7. The Redbirds remain the only team in the MVC unbeaten in league play and have an unbeaten streak of eight matches heading into Thursdays contest.
In the all-time series, Drake and Illinois State are deadlocked with a record of 12-12-3. However, the Bulldogs have been dominate recently going 4-0-1 in the last five matches against the Redbirds. Drake owns a 5-6-1 record all-time in road contests against Illinois State.

Scouting Evansville
The Purple Aces start their week holding a record of 6-5-2 and have gone 2-3-1 up to this point in the season. Evansville's two wins in league play have come against UIC and Belmont. Sunday's match with Drake will conclude a three-game road trip for the Purple Aces who have a record of 2-3-2 in games away from Evansville. The Purple Aces begin their week with a contest against UNI on Thursday.
Drake leads the all-time series against Evansville with a record of 15-10-4. The series has been slanted to Drake's side over the recent years, however, with the Bulldogs going 5-1-4 over the last 10 matchups. Drake's last lost to Evansville came nearly a decade ago in 2016 from Des Moines. The Bulldogs are 7-3-1 all-time in home games against Evansville.
