Iowa City, Iowa — The Drake rowing team will return to competition this Saturday, November 1, at the annual Iowa Chase on the Iowa River. The Bulldogs will field four boats across collegiate and novice events, facing strong competition from two University of Iowa varsity crews in each race.
Head coach Charlie DiSilvestro shared optimism for his team's continued progress leading into the final fall race of the season.
"We've had about a month of practice since our last race in Minnesota," DiSilvestro said. "Our first-year novices are getting stronger every day. And even though we know we're up against some tough competition with Iowa, I'm excited to see how all that improvement plays out on the race course."
The Bulldogs are set to race in four events throughout the day:
- 9:35 a.m. – Women's Novice Collegiate/Open 4+
Lineup: Izzy Silva, Hannah Okel, Natalie Hix, Elizabeth Romero, Brielle Condon
- 9:55 a.m. – Women's Collegiate/Open 8+
Lineup: Katherine Hanses, Skyler Duke, Madeline Wenger, Maeve Glennon, Camille Cole, Savanna Busch, Lucy Grizzle, Hailey Castelar, Adisyn Finnin
- 10:55 a.m. – Women's Novice Collegiate/Open 8+
Lineup: Izzy Silva, Hannah Okel, Natalie Hix, Mary Gano, Alex Graf, Autumn Cross, Natalie Kelley, Lilly Vogts, Lauren Hafemeyer
- 11:20 a.m. – Women's Collegiate/Open 4+
Lineup: Katherine Hanses, Skyler Duke, Camille Cole, Hailey Castelar, Lucy Grizzle
The Bulldogs will look to carry their season-long momentum into the final stretch of fall racing, building on steady gains in speed, strength, and team chemistry.
