Drake Volleyball Signs Five For 2026 Season

Bulldogs look toward the future with new signing class

DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake volleyball head coach Darrin McBroom announced the signing of five prep athletes for the 2026 season on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs signed Kamryn Behrns, Isabelle Kremer, Hailey Laffond, Ava Turlais, and Avery Vogt

KAMRYN BEHRNS l DAVID CITY, NEB. l OUTSIDE HITTER

One of the top players in Nebraska, Behrns holds five school records at David City High School including kills in a match, kills in a season, career kills, digs in a match, and career digs. In her prep career, Behrns totaled over 1,600 kills and 1,000 digs and was a multiple time First Team All-Conference selection.

"Kamryn is one of the most focused and competitive players in this class," McBroom said. "In addition to being a strong multi-sport athlete, she is a fierce competitor. Her work ethic and tenacity sets her apart and we believe she will be a contributor to this program."

ISABELLE KREMER l BETTENDORF, IOWA l OUTSIDE HITTER

Kremer was named the Iowa Class 5A Player of the Year as a junior and led Pleasant Valley to a state title with a season featuring 348 kills and 154 digs. A multiple time First Team All-Conference honoree, Kremer is the all-time career kills leader at Pleasant Valley High School and was tabbed with AVCA All-Region honors as a senior.

"I am so pleased that Isabelle decided to become a Bulldog," McBroom said. "She is a very talented athlete with an incredibly decorated prep volleyball resume. I think she will be a great addition to our legacy of solid outside hitters and she will be a standout player in the Missouri Valley."

HAILEY LAFFOND l EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. l MIDDLE BLOCKER

Laffond had a decorated prep career at Eden Prairie High School becoming a three-time All-Conference selection. In her senior season she displayed her talents on both sides of the net racking up 164 kills, 42 service aces, 60 blocks, and 58 digs.

"We were thrilled when Hailey committed to Drake," McBroom said. "She brings so much passion and energy to the court and to the people around her. This is all in addition to the incredible physical talent that she displays on the court. We keep getting stronger in the middle and Hailey will be the next evolution in that process."

AVA TURLAIS l OAK CREEK, WIS. l MIDDLE BLOCKER

Turlais helped her team qualify for the state tournament in back-to-back seasons as a junior and senior. Totaling over 200 kills in both her junior and senior campaigns, she was efficient in her attempts hitting at a clip of over .300 in both seasons. As a senior she ranked second in Wisconsin with a hitting percentage of .380.

"We were so happy that Ava committed to Drake," McBroom said. "She is a dynamic middle with a fast arm. What stands out to me about Ava is her training. As a middle she is always making herself available offensively to her setters. Beyond that she is quick laterally from pin to pin and we can't wait to see her compete in our gym."

AVERY VOGT l WAUKEE, IOWA l SETTER

A local product from Waukee, Vogt led her team to a state title in 2025 and was named captain of the Class 5A All-Tournament Team. A finalist for the 2025 Ms. Iowa Volleyball award, Vogt tallied over 2,000 assists in her prep career.

"I cannot believe that we got Avery Vogt when we did," McBroom said. "Sometimes you just get lucky. She is a dynamic setter with a high IQ for the game, along with strong leadership skills. She is the total package of what any team would want in a setter, and I think she is still getting better."
