Drake Football to Face South Dakota in First Round of FCS Playoffs

Bulldogs get rematch with Coyotes in opening round of postseason play

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake football team is set for the FCS playoffs as its matchup in the first round was announced on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs will face a familiar opponent, the South Dakota Coyotes, on Saturday, Nov. 29 from Vermillion, South Dakota.
 
The Bulldogs clinched their third-consecutive Pioneer Football League Championship on Saturday with a 17-10 victory over Morehead State from Drake Stadium earning them an automatic qualifier spot into the FCS playoffs. Drake ended the regular season with an overall record of 8-3 and went 7-1 in PFL contests under first-year head coach Joe Woodley.
 
South Dakota comes into the playoffs as the No. 11 seed after earning an at-large bid to the postseason. The Coyotes ended their regular season with an overall record of 8-4 and went 6-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
 
Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. CT from the DakotaDome with the game to be available on ESPN+. More information will be announced later this week.
