INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – First-year running back
Nick Herman has been again rewarded for a stellar debut season for the Bulldogs as one of 25 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award, Stats Perform announced this afternoon.
Herman has totaled 960 yards on 131 carries for an average of 7.3 yards per rush this season. He has scored six touchdowns, all of which have been on the ground, while catching 12 passes for 113 yards as a rookie.
The Rice Award, celebrating its 15th anniversary season, is named after legendary Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, who starred at Mississippi Valley State University. Past recipients include Cooper Kupp, Chase Edmonds, Trey Lance, Cam Ward, and Shedeur Sanders. Nominees include true and redshirt freshman, and all 13 FCS conference are represented among the finalists.
The eventual recipient will be announced on Dec. 3 and honored at the Stats Perform National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tenn.
Herman and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action this Saturday, Nov. 29, in the first round of the 2025 FCS Playoffs. Drake is set for a rematch in Vermillion with postseason kick-off slated for noon at The DakotaDome.
