DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's tennis had a quick turnaround after Friday night's defeat as the Bulldogs welcomed former MVC rival Creighton to Des Moines for Saturday matinee. Despite the different opponent, the results looked familiar as Creighton left Iowa's capital with a 6-1 victory.
The Bluejays controlled doubles play with victories in the top two spots to secure that point and head into singles action leading 1-0 in the match.
Drake was able to gain some traction once singles play commenced as first-year Bulldog earned a 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 victory. Takeda's win was the first of her Drake career and marked the Dogs' only point on Saturday.
Creighton won the remaining singles matches in straight set to earn their 6-1 triumph.
Drake will be off until Feb. 28 when the Bulldogs are set to continue their 4-match homestand. Drake is slated to host Marquette, their third straight Big East Conference opponent, to punctuate the month of February.
