Banks Selected To All-MVC Bench Team

Banks has been tabbed the conference’s Team Captain for the All-Bench Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake men's basketball junior swingman Tavion Banks earned a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Bench team, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. Banks has been tabbed the conference's Team Captain for the All-Bench Team.
 
Banks has played in 29 games averaging 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game this season. The Kansas City, Mo., native posted a pair of double-doubles this season going for 11-and-13 against Evansville on Jan. 11 and most recently scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the regular season finale against Missouri State. Banks has scored in double figures in 16 games and Drake is 16-0 when he scores in double figures. He also scored a career-high 21 points in a 75-65 victory at Southern Illinois Feb. 1.
 
Drake men's basketball as the No. 1 seed will take on the winner of No. 8 Southern Illinois/No. 9 Indiana State in the MVC Tournament quarterfinal at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Friday, March 7, at 12 p.m.
 
The remaining All-MVC awards are to be revealed on Wednesday, March 5.
