DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's tennis sought its second win in as many days as the Bulldogs played host to UIC on Sunday. The Bulldogs' effort was spoiled, however, as UIC left Des Moines with a 7-0 victory.
Freshman tandem of
Jessica Popiol and
Shiori Takeda took down UIC's Nia Cooper and Marta Halbersztadt in the No. 2 doubles position. That win was the only victory the Bulldogs could muster on Sunday as UIC went on to win the doubles point and sweep through singles play.
Jana Ruzic and
Nicole Lee put up the best fight in singles action at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Ruzic fell to Halbersztadt (6-4, 4-6, 4-10) while Lee was defeated by the Flames' Anais Brion (6-2, 2-6, 8-10).
The Bulldogs will travel to Cedar Falls next weekend for a tilt at rival UNI on Apr. 12. Drake's visit to the Panthers will be their last road match of the 2025 season.
