COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Drake University track and field team had seven representatives on the track and in the throwing fields. Despite a collection of sensational performances, the Bulldogs failed to send any qualifiers to the upcoming NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
800 runner
Emilie Meyer was a highlight for the Bulldogs. The 2025 Drake Relays and Missouri Valley Conference champion advanced through the first round after running a 2:05.85 for 19th. She then narrowly missed national qualification with a 2:03.43, good enough for 13th. Her quarterfinal time marked a new school record for the women's 800.
Elsewhere on the track,
Brogan Giffin finished 45th in the men's 1500 with a time of 3:59.09.
Tyla Lumley added a 33rd place finish in the women's 10k with a pace of 35:37.91.
Chinemerem Iwuagwu posted the best finish among the Drake throwers with a season best toss of 59.39m/194-10, good enough for 21st place. Freshman shot putter
Ethan Elliott added a 25th place result (18.02m/59-1.5) while
Cooper Cerese came in 31st in the same shot put field (17.77m/58-3.75).
Adam Phillips rounded out the throwing efforts with a 31st place hammer throw of 61.97m/203-3.
