TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Drake track and field began the 2026 MVC Outdoor Championships with several top 10 finishes and a pair of individual titles.
Owen Spira and
Xander Kwa outdid their MVC counterparts two take top honors on Saturday. Spira was the best men's hammer thrower in the league with a distance of 60.93m/199-11. Kwa outran the men's steeplechase field in 9:00.72 for the title.
Adam Phillips posted one of two runner-up positions in the men's hammer with a heave of 60.81m/199-06.
Centaine Noom-Duckworth finished in the same spot on the women's side with a toss of 59.09m/193-10.
Other Drake field event finishers included
Maud Visscher's fifth-place women's hammer throw of 56.78m/186-03,
Ethan Elliott at 57.13m/187-05 in the men's hammer for seventh, and
Cole Brandt's hammer throw launch of 52.98m/173-10 for 10th.
On the track,
Daniel Rotich had Drake's best finish on Saturday with a third-place time of 30:37.17 in the men's 10k.
The Bulldogs had two other men's steeplechasers inside the top 10 as
Daghyn True ran 9:19.94 and
Lanse Larsen logged a time of 9:22.55.
On the women's side,
Sophia Agan was tenth in the women's 10k at 36:42.05.
Drake, and the rest of The Valley, will conclude the 2026 MVC Outdoor Championships tomorrow.
