ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Sam Johnson of Drake men's golf has been tabbed as the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced.

Johnson had the best finish for Drake placing solo second in the individual medalist race at the Compadres Collegiate, while the Bulldogs placed fourth as a team. Johnson started off his tournament with a 3-over, 75 but then finished under par the next two rounds shooting 70 and 69 for his total score of 2-under, 214. Johnson carded the third-most birdies in the field with 13 and had the second-best scoring average on the par 5's at 4.58.

Drake returns to the course in a couple of weeks for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Feb. 23-25 from Palm Desert, California.
