The Basics
Drake women's tennis is off to an 0-3 start this season with a trio of heartbreaking 4-3 losses to its credit. The Dogs are set for two more home tilts this weekend as Creighton (Feb. 6) and Kansas City (Feb. 8) will visit Des Moines.
Bulldog Breakdown
After Drake began its spring slate with a pair of losses to both North Dakota and Southeast Missouri State, the Bulldogs went on the road for their first match away from Des Moines this season. Drake saw similar results, though, as Lindenwood sent them home with another 4-3 result.
Maja Dodik had another standout day against the Lions. She defeated Lindenwood's Fabiana Labrador in the top singles position after teaming up with
Kristina Tai for a No. 1 doubles win. The partnership of
Shiori Takeda and
Milana Dejanovic also earned a doubles victory.
Scouting Creighton
The Bluejays are 1-2 so far on the 2026 season. They opened spring action with a 5-0 loss at Kansas before visiting Marquette and leaving Milwaukee with a 4-3 conference victory. The Bluejays then picked up their first league loss at DePaul.
Creighton is coming off an 11-8 campaign last season. The Bluejays 2025 season ended in the Big East Championships with a 4-3 loss to Seton Hall.
Drake owns an 18-2 advantage in the all-time series with Creighton. The Bluejays won the most recent meeting last season and are looking for their third ever victory in Des Moines.
Scouting Kansas City
Like Drake, the Roos of Kansas City have yet to log a victory this season. Both of Kansas City's losses have come via 5-0 tallies to Kansas and Nebraska on the road.
The Roos were 7-10 a year ago and posted a 1-5 mark in Summit League action. Going back to last season, Kansas City has lost four matches in a row.
Drake also owns an 11-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Roos. The Bulldogs have won the two most recent battles since a Kansas City W in 2019. Drake will be looking to build upon its all-time 9-1 mark vs. the Roos in Des Moines.
Up Next
The Bulldogs will head north for back-to-back matches in the Twin Cities on Valentine's weekend. Drake is set to take on St. Thomas (Feb. 14) before lining up against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota (Feb. 15).
