DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's tennis finished up its 5-match homestand on Saturday afternoon with a showdown against South Dakota. The Bulldogs leapt out to an early lead and were too much for USD to handle in singles action as the hosts earned a 5-2 victory.
 
Reigning MVC Doubles Team of the Week, Maja Dodik and Jordane Dookie, made quick work of South Dakota's top duo of Kayleigh Didderiens and Anna Medvyedyeva by a 6-1 score. Kristina Tai and Milana Dejanovic secured the doubles point for Drake a little later with a 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot.
 
Didderiens evened the match for the Coyotes with the first win of the singles portion play with a straight set win over Shiori Takeda, but Drake's Milana Dejanovic responded. Dejanovic earned a 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 6 match.
 
Drake won the next two bouts at matches 3 and 4 thanks to wins by Jordane Dookie and Kristina Tai, which secured the match victory for the Bulldogs.
 
Ketevan Shavishvili and Maja Dodik each won after the result was determined with Dodik's victory coming by a score of 6-7(8-10), 6-3, 1-0(10-8) in the No. 1 match.
 
The Bulldogs will head to the Sunshine State for their next match. Drake is set for a Mar. 18 battle with the Bears of Morgan State in Orlando, Florida.
