Drake Women Land Four on CSC Academic All-District List

Aalsma, Hawthorne, Knutson, Taylor included among national honorees

DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's basketball was represented by four standouts on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, CSC announced today. Abbie Aalsma and Ava Hawthorne, who also earned MVC Scholar-Athlete honors earlier this month, were joined by Grace Knutson and Maggie Taylor.
 
Aalsma led the Bulldogs in scoring this season with just over 15 points per game. The senior earned a grade point average of 3.97 while studying Sociology.
 
Hawthorne finished her Bulldog career with this recognition after garnering GPAs of 3.76 in Health Care Administration and 3.81 in Health Informatics & Data Analytics. The graduate student led Drake's offense in assists.
 
Knutson posted a GPA of 3.66 in Management & Organization Leadership. Knutson was Drake's third-leading scorer with 9.0 points per game with the highest free throw percentage on the team at .804.
 
Taylor rounded out Drake's CSC All-Academic performers with a 3.55 GPA in Finance. The South Dakota native led Drake on the glass with 216 total rebounds and an average of 6.8 boards per game.
