ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Drake senior guard
Jalen Quinn has been named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team and the All-Newcomer Team, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
Quinn, a transfer from Loyola Chicago, opened eyes around the Missouri Valley Conference in his first and only year in the league garnering his First Team All-Conference selection and the selection to the All-Newcomer Team this season. He led the MVC in scoring with a 19.4 ppg average and has the most 30-plus scoring games by an MVC player (34 against Murray State, 31 against Georgia Tech, 32 against Bradley, and 33 against Valpo) and the most 20-plus scoring games at 16.
Quinn had been stellar down the stretch of the regular season and has scored 20-plus points in 10 of the last 14 games. He is averaging 23.1 points, while shooting 49.0 percent, during that stretch.
Quinn became the first Drake player to record four 30-plus scoring games in the same season since Tucker DeVries who also achieved the feat in four games during the 2023-24 campaign. He is now the sixth Drake player to lead the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring dating back to the 1955-56 season. All-American Lewis Lloyd led the MVC in scoring in back-to-back seasons in 1980 (30.2 ppg) and 1981 (26.3) followed by Curt Smith in 1993 (21.1 ppg), Luke McDonald in 2002 (17.9 ppg), Josh Young in 2008 (15.9 ppg) and
Bennett Stirtz in 2025 (19.2 ppg).
