COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Drake men's golf team concluded play at the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday and ended the tournament in 16th among the 19-team field.
Drake finished with a final score of 881 after three rounds of play over two days. The Bulldogs shot rounds of 288, 291, and 302. Host institution Missouri won the team title at 833 (279-271-283) and was the only team in the field to finish under par. Iowa State, who finished in second, shot even par at 840 (282-277-281).
Individually,
Nate Spear had the best finish for Drake on the leaderboard and tied for 51st. Spear tallied a total score of 8-over, 218 with the senior sitting at even par after 36 holes firing a 1-under, 69 in round one and a 1-over, 71 in round two. He then ended his tournament shooting an 8-over, 78 on Tuesday.
Luke Bohmer and
Sam Johnson also finished in the 50's on the leaderboard as Bohmer tied for 54th and Johnson tied for 59th. Bohmer recorded a final score of 219 with rounds of 72-71-76. Johnson, meanwhile, shot 220 with back-to-back rounds of 75 and a final round of even par, 70.
The final two competitors for the Bulldogs were
Jake Weissenburger and
Chase Pickering. Weissenburger carded a total tally of 229 (72-76-81) and tied for 88th, while Pickering finished tied for 93rd at 231 following rounds of 79-74-78.
Missouri's Veikka Viskari took home individual medalist honors with a score of 6-under, 204.
Drake will have a couple weeks off before its next competition, the Hawkeye Invitational, from Riverside, Iowa, April 20-21.
