ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Zoey Mahoney was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Mahoney anchored an impressive defensive weekend for the Bulldogs. The Waukee native distributed two assists as Drake took down in-state foe Iowa State and St. Thomas, both by 2-0 margins. Mahoney and the rest of the Drake defense locked their opponents down in a pair of shutouts.

Mahoney and the Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow night with a crosstown match against Grand View with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. following the men's soccer game against Green Bay. Tomorrow's match will also serve as Senior Day for Drake women's soccer where Mahoney and seven of her teammates will be honored prior to kickoff.
