ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake football picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, and
Riley Warzynski earned his first Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week nod on Sunday afternoon, the conference announced.
In just three quarters of action, Warzynski completed 31-of-48 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns, powering Drake to its 51-32 victory at Davidson. He also carried the ball eight times for 44 yards and was responsible for 22 first downs or touchdowns.
Warzynski, who is fourth in all of FCS with 1,399 passing yards this season, led the Bulldogs to touchdowns on their first four drives, capping two with tosses of 15 and 37 yards to
Willis Nofsinger, who had nine receptions for 127 yards and two scores. His 24-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Garcia punctuated the third quarter's opening drive and gave Drake a 38-14 lead.
Warzynski and the Bulldogs will return to Des Moines as their PFL schedule is set to continue next week. Drake will kick things off against Dayton at noon inside Drake Stadium.
