DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Drake women's golf team finished up competition at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Tuesday afternoon from Davenport Country Club and ended in 12th place among the 13-team field.
The Bulldogs tallied a final team score of 955 after rounds of 317-325-313. Host team, the University of Iowa, claimed the team title for the tournament at 878.
For the second consecutive tournament, Drake had its competitor playing as an individual record the best finish on the leaderboard as
Ava Lohrbach tied for 15th. The Freshman from Ames, Iowa, started off her tournament with back-to-back rounds of 5-over 76 and concluded with a final round of 3-over, 74 for a total score of 226. Lohrbach's final round vaulted her 10 spots on the leaderboard to move her into the top-15.
Next on the leaderboard for Drake was
Kate Connolly tying for 36th at 233. The senior was consistent over the two days of play bookending her play with rounds of 6-over, 77 and an 8-over, 79 in the second round.
Finishing just outside the top-50 was freshman
Kalli Locklin. She ended T51 on the leaderboard with her total score of 240 (78-77-85). Finishing in the 60's was
Annabelle Bush and
Alexis Reyes. Bush ended up tied for 60th at 243 (80-86-77) and Reyes tied for 65th at 245 (82-85-78). Closing out the Bulldog lineup was
Alicia Henault tying for 73rd with a 252 (87-84-81) total.
The Bulldogs will travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico for their next event, the Golf Iconic Classic from the New Mexico State Golf Course, Oct. 12-14.
