Sam Walkingstick joined the Drake football coaching staff for the 2019 season and serves as a special teams assistant.
Walkingstick went straight into coaching after his playing career at Oklahoma State from 2015-18. He was a walk-on who served as the Cowboys’ first-team long snapper. Walkingstick played in 32 career games for the Cowboys, including in 2018 serving as the Cowboys’ long snapper on both punts and placements in all 13 games and he performed without incident.
Prior to Oklahoma State, he was a four-year letterwinner for Sallisaw High School in Sallisaw, Okla. Walkingstick earned all-district recognition as an outside linebacker his senior season, also played tight end and was an honorable mention pick for all-state at that position and he also served as the team’s long snapper. He was a member of the school’s track and field team.
Walkingstick graduated from Oklahoma State with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
