Shannon Saunders joined the Drake Athletics Department in August 2015 as the Special Assistant to the Athletics Director. Her main responsibilities are threefold, to include providing direct support for the Director of Athletics, managing fundraising events for the department’s development office, and serving as the Director of Football Operations. In her role, she is a member of the department’s senior staff team which involves serving as the liaison for Human Resources and managing the department’s strategic plan.
Saunders earned her PhD in Education from Drake University in 2019. She holds a master’s degree in Business Leadership and a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration and Business Management each from William Penn University.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Saunders was a student-athlete at William Penn University, where she competed in women’s basketball and track and field.
