Biography

Named AP second-team FCS All-America, AFCA FCS All-America, first-team All-Pioneer Football League and PFL Defensive Player of the Year to cap a stellar career at Drake in 2010. Served as co-captain as a senior. Career numbers include 149.5 tackles, including 27.5 sacks and 54.5 total tackles for loss, along with 12 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles and four blocked kicks.

2010 - Named PFL Defensive Player of the Year and received All-America recognition and first-team All-PFL honors starting all 11 games and posting 49.5 tackles, including 13.5 sacks (3rd in nation/3rd PFL) and 24 tackles for loss (3rd in nation/2nd PFL). The co-captain also added one interception (returned for TD), four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick. He was named PFL co-Defensive Player of the Week for his career-best 12-tackle performance at Dayton Nov. 6 that included 3.5 sacks, including one for a safety, and blocked a kick.

  • Closed career with eight tackles and 6-yard sack in win versus Butler (11/13).
  • Named PFL Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Dayton (11/6) with a career-high 12 tackles, including 3.5 sacks with one for a safety, along with a blocked field goal attempt. Taylor accounted for two points and prevented three points, contributing a five-point swing by himself.
  • Recorded five tackles including an 8-yard sack in win versus San Diego (10/30).
  • Returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown along with a 9-yard sack in win versus Davidson (10/23).
  • Had seven tackles including two sacks (-20) in win at Campbell (10/16).
  • Recorded four solo tackles and a sack at Jacksonville (10/9).
  • Had tackle for loss and a sack in win versus Marist (10/2).
  • Received honorable mention honors as College Football Performance Award Division I Football Championship Subdivision defensive lineman of the week for his efforts in win at Valparaiso (9/25) in which he recovered a fumble to set up first touchdown, along with six tackles (5 solo) and 3.5 tackles for loss (-14).

  • Began 2010 listed on the FCS College Football Performance Awards preseason watch list as defensive performer and lineman of the year; The Sports Network Preseason All-America third team; the College Sporting News Football Championship Subdivision All-American third team; first team selection on Phil Steel's 2010 Preseason All-Pioneer Football League team and named to Consensus Draft Services Preseason Football College Subdivision All-American second team.

2009 - Earned All-Pioneer Football League first team honors after leading league in quarterback sacks (10.5), tackles for loss with 19.5 (-90) and ranking second in forced fumbles with four...finished season ranked third nationally in tackles for loss with 1.77 per game and sixth in quarterback sacks (0.95/game) and forced fumbles (0.36/game).

  • Had eight tackles at Dayton, including 6-yard sack and 1.5 tackles for losses.
  • Had two quarterback sacks (-13) vs. Valparaiso.

2008 - Earned second-team All-Pioneer Football League honors at defensive end...collected 34 tackles (22 solo), including 1.5 sacks and 7.5 total tackles for loss (-28).

  • Had eight tackles against William Penn, while returning blocked punt seven yards for touchdown.
  • Had four tackles vs. Butler, San Diego and Morehead State.
  • Recorded 13-yard sack at Jacksonville, while forcing fumble and recovering fumble.

2007 - Recorded 28 tackles, including 2.0 sacks and 3.5 total tackles for loss (-17).

  • Registered 3-yard sacks vs. Jacksonville and Dayton.
  • Totaled then-career-high nine tackles, including six solo, vs. Waldorf.
  • Collected four tackles against Valparaiso and Dayton.

2006 - Redshirt. Named team's co-defensive scout team player of year.

Prep - Earned second-team all-state honors as senior at Mountain Vista High in Highlands Ranch, Colo...three-time all-conference selection.
