Aly Cappaert is in her second season with the Drake Bulldogs as a volunteer assistant coach. Cappaert comes to the Bulldogs after finishing a successful career at Iowa State.
 
Cappaert was an impact player for four years for the Cyclones, typically playing as a designated hitter. In her senior season was one of three Cyclones to start in all 55 games.  She had a career batting average of .347, and was a 2015 All-Big 12 First Team Selection. In her freshman season, Cappaert set an Iowa State freshman record with a .518 slugging percentage.
 
While at Iowa State Cappaert was also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, CoSIDA Academic All-District and a 2016 Senior CLASS Award Candidate. Cappaert earned her Bachelor’s of Science in public relations and Master’s of Higher Education in just four years, being chosen as the 2016 Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the year, as well as serving as co-president of Iowa State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
 
An Ankeny native, Cappaert broke Ankeny High School’s single season home run record with 13.  Earning First Team All-Conference and Class 4A First Team All-State honors her junior year, Cappaert also captured the school’s single season RBI record with 15 and the single season walk record with 70, the second-most all time for the state of Iowa. Cappaert also competed in track and field, qualifying for the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships twice as well as at the Drake Relays.
