Chris Clendenen was hired as the Director of Sports Performance in May of 2023. In his position, he directs and oversees the physical preparation and nutrition for Women’s Basketball and Volleyball.
Clendenen joins the Bulldogs after seven years as a Football Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Washington. While with the Huskies, the football program won two Pac-12 Championships, a North Division championship, and appeared in a New Year’s Six Bowl for three straight years, including a College Football Playoff appearance in 2016.
Clendenen came to Washington after three years as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach and Graduate Assistant Coach at Iowa State University where he directly oversaw the training for softball, gymnastics, and men’s and women’s golf.
Clendenen earned his bachelor’s degree in Independent Studies from the University of Iowa in 2008 and his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Iowa State University in 2015. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association and holds his PN1 Certification through Precision Nutrition.
Clendenen and his wife, Kelsey, have a daughter named Josey.
