Thomas Lené was hired as the Drake University women’s basketball program’s associate strength coach in July, 2019. Lené came to Drake from the reigning NCAA National Champions, the Baylor Bears. He served as the interim director of performance for the Bears’ women’s basketball program for the 2019-20 season after previously being the program’s assistant strength coach.
Lené creates all strength and conditioning aspects for the Drake women's basketball team for all practices, games and off-season training. He coaches the student-athletes one-on-one and in groups on proper lifting techniques, creates programs for individuals and assists in the programming for pre-season, in-season and off-season while assisting with injured student-athletes recovery. In addition to his role with the women's basketball program he serves in the same capacity for the Drake University men's and women's golf programs.
Lené, a native of Waco, Texas, earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a master’s degree in sport pedagogy from Baylor.
