Matt Ream is in his second season on the Drake University women's soccer staff as the Bulldogs' director of soccer operations but brings more than five years of junior college and Division III coaching experience to the sideline.

Since recently relocating to Des Moines, Ream has served as a volunteer assistant coach at nearby Simpson College following a one-year stint assisting at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Ream began his collegiate coaching career in 2011 at Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., prior to spending three seasons as an assistant at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wis.

Ream also boasts a wealth of experience coaching on the youth and club levels. He currently serves on the Iowa Olympic Development Program staff and works with the West Des Moines Soccer Club and Sporting Iowa. Shortly after moving to California in 2009, he began coaching club teams with FC Long Beach and North Huntington Beach FC. Additionally, he worked with Soccer Shots Orange Country helping to provide youth soccer programs for kids ages 3-8.

In 2012, Ream moved to Wisconsin and joined that state's Olympic Development Program staff while earning coaching positions with Bavarian Soccer Club and the Elm Grove Soccer Club. He also coached three years with the Wisconsin Fire program, overseeing the 2000/01 age group.

Ream holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from UC Davis with a minor in education. At UC Davis, he was a member of the men's club soccer team. In 2012, he earned a master's degree in kinesiology with perfect 4.0 GPA from Cal State Long Beach.

He owns a USSF 'C' coaching license and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. In 2014, he was named to his second NSCAA '30 under 30' class.

Ream is married to former Drake women's soccer Libby Willrich who competed for the Bulldogs from 2002-04. The couple resides in West Des Moines with their daughters Sophia and Nora.
