WHAT'S AHEAD: The Drake men's and women's cross country teams will continue action this Saturday, sending runners to the Penn State National. The women's 5,000-meter race will start at 10 a.m., while the men's 5.2 mile race will be run at 10:45 a.m.
Participating teams include Allegheny, Bloomsburg, Clarion, Cornell, Cortland State, Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven, Mansfield, Oklahoma, host Penn State, Rider, St. Francis (Pa.), Slippery Rock, Syracuse and West Virginia.
Drake withheld its top six men and five of its top six women from the Simpson Buxton Open last Saturday in Indianola, Ia.
WOMEN WIN SIMPSON OPEN: Paced by three runners finishing in the top five, the Drake women's cross country team won the team title in the Simpson Buxton Open last Saturday in Indianola, Iowa.
The Bulldogs scored 28 points with host Simpson placing second with 29 followed by Grand View at 96. Iowa Central Community College failed to field a complete team.

Nicole Braunsdorf (St. Francis, Wis.) led Drake by placing second in the 5,000-meter race in 20 minutes 21 seconds. Teammate
Amy Garrett was third in 20:44, followed by Drake freshman
Katie Phelan (Jackson, Mich.) who was fourth in 20:48.

MEN'S RESULTS: Drake sophomore Cole Feldman (Carroll, Iowa/Kuemper) placed fifth in the men's division of the Simpson Open last Saturday which featured 37 runners. Feldman was timed in the 8,000-meter race in 28:34. Drake sophomore Andy Shortslef (Janesville, Wis.)was sixth in 28:47, while sophomore Randy Weigand (Wheaton, Ill.) was eighth in 29:14.
