FALCON HEIGHTS, MINN. ? Minnesota beat the Drake women's cross country team, 15-49, in a dual to win the annual Oz Memorial Run at the Les Bolstad Golf Course Saturday.

Senior Ashley Anklam (Bloomington, Minn.) led Drake by finishing seventh on the 6,000-meter course in 22:55.88. Senior Jenny Reff (Fergus Falls, Minn.) was 14th in 23:33.25.

The Oz Memorial Run is named in memory of former Drake coach Gary Osborn, who passed away May 21, 2000. Osborn was a longtime friend of Minnesota coach Gary Wilson.

"It was our first real competition of the season," said Drake Coach Dan Hostager. "It was difficult facing one of the top programs in the country in a dual but we still managed some good performances."

Drake freshmen Tara Scieszinski (Albia), Sarah Havelka (Kansas City, Mo.) and Courtney Heinz (St. Paul, Minn.) ran the first 6,000-meter races of their careers.

The Bulldogs resume action Sept. 23 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
