PEORIA, ILL. -- In a final tuneup before competing in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Oct. 27, the Drake women's cross country team came away with a solid performance in the Bradley Classic at the Newman Golf Course Friday.
Drake junior Nicole Braunsdorf (St. Francis, Wis.), the reigning MVC Runner of the Week, was third in the women's 6,000-meter race in 21 minutes 2 seconds.
Missouri, placing three runners in the top 10, won the women's team title with 49 points while Drake tallied 219 points finishing eighth in the 17-team women's division.
Other Drake women's results included freshman Casey McDermott (Newton, Iowa) placing 33rd in 22:20, while freshman Milly Clark (Jakarta, Indonesia) was 51st in 22.44. Sophomore Courtney Heinz (St. Paul, Minn.) was 64th in 23:00 and senior Sarah Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa/St. Albert) 80th in 23:18.
