TERRE HAUTE, IND. - The Drake women's team headed to Indiana State on Saturday (April 21) looking to push its winning streak to four straight matches, the Sycamores though had other ideas as they posted their fifth consecutive Missouri Valley Conference victory with a 5-2 decision over the Bulldogs.
Drake falls to 9-12 on the year, including 4-3 in conference action with the setback, while Indiana State extends its record to 13-8 overall and 6-2 in the MVC.
The Sycamores established the tone of the match in doubles as they swept all three matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles action.
The Bulldogs garnered both their wins at the bottom two slots in their rotation as sophomore
Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) and junior Daria Zawislak (Gdansk, Poland) netted decisions at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
Zawislak extended her record to 8-1 overall on the strength of a 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 three-set triumph over Kelly Hamm, while Sloboth bettered Sarah Galparoli, 7-6, 6-4.
Drake concludes its regular season with a 10:00 a.m. match at Illinois State on Sunday (April 22).
