DES MOINES, IOWA - Drake senior
Barry Hill (
Caddo Mills, Texas) was second in the Bulldog Classic as the Bulldogs men's cross country team opened the season Friday at Ewing Park.
Hill was timed in 12 minutes 18.8 seconds. Iowa State's Johnny Reel won the race in 12:14.5.
"I was surprised by with my time and how easy it came," said Hill. "Coming out strong and doing good in my first race is hopefully an indicator of how the season will go for me."
Drake junior
Evan Jurkovich (
Edina, Minn.) was fifth, while junior
Jeff Grassmeyer (
Fremont, Neb.) was sixth.
