AMES, IOWA ? Sophomore Rob Fechner (St. Louis, Mo.) placed fifth in the pole vault to highlight action for the Drake men's track and field team at the Iowa State Open Saturday.

Fechner soared 14 feet 1.25 inches. Drake sophomore Kevin Earl (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) was seventh in the 600-yard run in 1:13.34. Drake senior Barry Hill (Caddo Mills, Texas) was 13th in the mile in 4:24.70.

Drake junior Augustine Agyei (Aurora, Colo.) was 12th in the 60-meter dash in 7:14 after being clocked in 7.08 in qualifying.
