DES MOINES, IOWA - Freshman Gabby Demos (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) captured the No. 2 singles crown at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individuals on Sunday (Oct. 12) registering a dramatic 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 triumph over Valeriia Petrovych of Indiana State.

Demos and the Bulldogs came up short of making it two titles as the tandem of freshman Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) and Demos dropped an 8-1 decision to Lutfiana Budiharto and Anna Egorova of Wichita State in the title match of the No. 2 doubles draw.

Earning third-place honors in the No. 6 singles flight was senior Sarah Plowman (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar), who bettered freshman Earlynn Lauer (Wichita, Kan./Goddard), 6-1, 6-1.

Drake registered a 5-3 combined singles/doubles ledger on the day.

The Bulldogs will close out their fall campaign as Drake travels to East Lansing, Mich., to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional (Oct. 23-28).
