DES MOINES, IOWA ?The Drake women's cross country team had six finishers in the top-30, turning in a solid performance at the Viking Invitational Friday hosted by Grand View College.
Senior Kristin Looney (Evergreen Park, Ill. ) and sophomore Lindsay Smith (Lakeville, Minn.) paced the Bulldogs with a top-10 performances , leading the team to a second-place finish in the seven-team race.
Looney finished the 5,000 meter race at Ewing Park in 20:22, finishing ninth overall and Smith crossed the finish line in 20:31, finishing 10th overall. The pair was followed by , senior Laura Zoulek (Butler, Wis.), finishing 11th in 20:44; senior Emma Barker (St. Paul, Minn.), finishing 18th in 21:24; freshman Emily Zipoy (Elgin, Ill.), finishing 25th in 21:40 and junior Sarah Havelka (Kansas City, Mo.), finishing 28th in 22:03.
Grand VIew , placing three runners in the top-10, won the team title with 62 points followed by Drake with 73 points and Mount Mercy with 73 points. Grandview freshman Obsie Birru was the only runner to break 20 minutes, finishing the race in a top time of 18:41.
