ST. LOUIS, MO.
-- Drake sophomore Ted Schleisman
(Verona, Wis./Middleton)
was recently honored by the Missouri Valley Conference, receiving the MVC Good
Neighbor Award.
Schleisman, a midfielder with the Drake men's soccer team, was
honored for both his academic and volunteer work.
He is an actuarial science major with a 4.00 grade point
average who is a member of the Drake Student-Athlete Advisory Council and received
the Drake Presidential Scholarship. Schleisman volunteers with Meals for
Heartland, youth soccer clinics and the Des Moines Marathon.
Schleisman has played in 11 games this season, starting two,
and collecting four shots and two shots on goal. Last season he appeared in 17
games, scoring one goal, one assist and two shots. He was the only player on
the team with a perfect shots on goal percentage.
The Good Neighbor Award was created in an effort to honor
model student-athletes in the MVC. Ten student-athletes have been named
by Commissioner Doug Elgin as the honorees for this fall.
