Ted Schleisman Receives Good Neighbor Award

ST. LOUIS, MO. -- Drake sophomore Ted Schleisman (Verona, Wis./Middleton) was recently honored by the Missouri Valley Conference, receiving the MVC Good Neighbor Award.

Schleisman, a midfielder with the Drake men's soccer team, was honored for both his academic and volunteer work.

He is an actuarial science major with a 4.00 grade point average who is a member of the Drake Student-Athlete Advisory Council and received the Drake Presidential Scholarship. Schleisman volunteers with Meals for Heartland, youth soccer clinics and the Des Moines Marathon.

Schleisman has played in 11 games this season, starting two, and collecting four shots and two shots on goal. Last season he appeared in 17 games, scoring one goal, one assist and two shots. He was the only player on the team with a perfect shots on goal percentage.

The Good Neighbor Award was created in an effort to honor model student-athletes in the MVC. Ten student-athletes have been named by Commissioner Doug Elgin as the honorees for this fall.
