Kristin Birocci's (Des Moines, Iowa) one-out RBI single, in the bottom of the eighth inning, with the bases loaded lifted the Drake softball team to a 1-0 victory over George Mason in their third game at the UCF Tournament Saturday.

Jenna DeLong was placed on second to begin the eighth frame, she advanced to third on a wild pitch. Senior
Marilyn Buss (West Des Moines, Iowa) and sophomore
Carrie Hatfield (Des Moines, Iowa) were then walked. Sophomore
Elena Leon (West Des Moines, Iowa) hit into a fielder's choice before Birocci drove in Buss for the winning run.
The game began at 8:30 a.m. but after rain began to fall was delayed for several hours.
The eighth inning was the first time in the game that the Bulldogs were able to load the bases.
Birocci recorded two of Drake's four hits in the game. George Mason also had four hits.
Freshman
Brynne Dordel (Chanhassen, Minn.) struck out a season-high 13 batters en route to recording her third win of the season (3-0).
Drake will continue action in the UCF Tournament by facing off against Auburn at 3 p.m. Saturday, before wrapping up tournament play at 9 a.m. Sunday facing tournament host Central Florida.
