PELLA, IOWA -- Drake junior
Evan Jurkovich (Edina, Minn.) won the 1,500 meter run in 4 minues 3.36 seconds and came back to finish runner-up in the 5,00 to help lead the Bulldogs to a second-place finish in the 18-team Central Invitational Saturday.
Iowa edged Drake, 96-94.20, for the team title. Jurkovich was clocked in 15:33.92 in the 5,000. Senior
Jaron Van Maanen (Sully, Iowa) won the high jump with a season best of 6 feet 10.75 inches and placed fourth inthe 110 hurdles in 15.00.
Junior
Josh Bangert (Washington, Mo.) had a busy meet, placing third in the 100 (10.89). fourth in the long jump (22-10), and ninth in the javelin (142-8).
Drake was second in the 4x100 relay (41.96) and third in the 4x400 relay (3:18.20).
Sophomore
Rob Fechner (St. Louis, Mo.) was third in the pole vault (13-8.5), while senior
Barry Hill (Caddo Mills, Texas) was third in the 1,500 (4:03.94).
Sophomore
Matt Mobley (Huntley, Ill.) was fourth in the javelin at 156-7.
