DES MOINES, IOWA -- Former Drake women's soccer standout and 2006 Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Most Valuable Player, Danielle Oswald, was announced as the first assistant under first-year Drake head women's soccer coach Lindsay Horner Thursday.
Oswald played forward and defender for the Bulldogs from for the 2005 and 2006 seasons after transferring from the University of Iowa prior to the 2005 season.
Oswald appeared in 36 games for the Bulldogs, earning first team All-MVC honors as a senior in 2006. Oswald recorded three goals; seven assists and led the defense to 17 shutout victories over two seasons. She also guided the Bulldogs to a pair of MVC regular season titles and their first ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.
This will mark the first collegiate coaching position for Oswald, who was a head coach at the Ankeny and Urbandale Soccer Clubs. She is also currently the assistant coach of the Iowa Olympic Development Program.
