AMES, IOWA - Freshman Colin Hagan (Wichita, Kan./Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic) paced the Drake University men's cross country team Saturday at the Iowa State Open.

Hagan recorded the team's highest finish by placing 15th in the 8,000-meter race in 26:57.68. Drake senior Leyden Tolhurst (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart) was 16th in 27:00.69.

Drake freshman Derek Campbell (Sycamore, Ill.) was 20th in 27:40.55 followed by junior Zach Bales-Henry (Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln), 22nd, in 27:58.40.

Drake sophomore Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong) was 23rd in 28:10.50, while sophomore Mike Bumgarner (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) was 24th in 28:13.56.

Drake's Andrew Haigh (Auckland, New Zealand/Mt. Roskill Grammar) was 26th in 28:21.69. Freshman Josh Buschling (Washington, Mo/Washington) was 27th in 28:31.64, while sophomore Adam Oestreich (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) was 29th in 28:54.75.

Other Drake results included freshman Ben Jaskowiak (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial), 33rd, 29:39.58; freshman Matt Jurysta (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, McLaughlin Institute), 34th, 29:43.18; freshman Tim Kojetin (Rosemount, Minn,/Rosemount), 37th, 30:13.50; sophomore Colin Coomer (Overland Park, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas), 37th, 30:29.24 and freshman Peter Schonenberg (Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover) 38th, 30:41.99.

Iowa State's Clayton Carper won the race in 25:27.69.
