DES MOINES, IOWA -- Guards Craig Stanley (Plano, Texas) and Josh Young (Lawton, Okla.) scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, to pace a balanced scoring attack as the Drake men's basketball team captured its third straight Missouri Valley Conference victory with a 69-50 decision past Indiana State Wednesday.

The 6-foot 1-inch Young enjoyed his first career double-double by also grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Adam Templeton (Rapid City, S.D.) added 12 points on a season-high four three-point baskets. Senior forward Jonathan Cox (Barrington, Ill.) collected 10 points.

Drake moved to 12-4 overall, including a 3-1 MVC mark entering a Sunday night home game against Wichita State.

The Bulldogs limited Indiana State to 32.1 percent shooting from the floor, including 26.1 percent in the second half.

"We're still looking for improvement," noted Drake coach Mark Phelps. "We were good in some areas tonight but there were parts of the game that we have a lot of work to do to get better."

Indiana State outrebounded Drake, 41-28, collecting 18 offensive rebounds. Senior forward Jay Tunnell grabbed a season-high 10 boards for the Sycamores who fell to 3-12, including a 1-3 league mark.

"Indiana State was bound and determined to send players to the offensive glass and they were good," said Phelps. "We didn't have an answer, especially in the first half."

After a basket by Isiah Martin pulled Indiana State within 38-34 with 11:58 left, Stanley drilled his fourth three-point basket of the season from the top of the key to trigger a 7-0 run by Drake that pushed the score to 45-34 following two free throws by Josh Parker (Harvey, Ill.)  with 10:23 remaining.

Drake held Indiana State to just one basket in the last 7:21 of the game as the Sycamores scored six of their last eight points at the free throw line.

Drake collected a season-high 11 steals with  Parker  recording a career-high five thefts.

Martin led Indiana State with a season-high 12 points, while freshman guard Carl Richard came off the bench to score 10 points.

"Our effort was better," said Indiana State coach Kevin McKenna. "We had more intensity...we just couldn't make shots."

DRAKE NOTES: Drake has won 26 of its last 29 home games dating back to 2007...Cox is six points shy of becoming the 22nd player in Drake history to score 1,000 points in his career...Senior forward Brent Heemskerk blocked one shot to move into a tie for fifth on the school career blocked shot list at 63 with Lewis Lloyd (1979-81)...Stanley had scored a combined three points in Drake's first two MVC games of the season before breaking loose for a career-high 17 at Southern Illinois Sunday followed by his 15 against the Sycamores. Drake improved to 6-0 when Stanley scores in double figures and 4-0 when he makes a three-point basket.
