EVANSVILLE, IND. - The Drake women's tennis team
finished the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individuals with a trio of
runner-up finishes in the tournament's final day on Sunday (Oct. 11).
Freshman Manca Krizman (Solkan,
Slovenia) came up short in the top singles draw being bested by Stephanie
Dalmacio of Wichita State, 6-4, 6-2.
Lenore Lazaroiu of
Wichita State netted a 6-3, 7-5 victory against sophomore Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) at the No. 2
position, while sophomore Earlynn Lauer (Wichita, Kan.) dropped a 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 decision
versus Illinois State's Hannah Esker in the No. 7 bracket.
In doubles, the
tandem of sophomores Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.) was bettered
in the third-place match of the flight 3 doubles draw, 8-4, against Pin
Sorenson and Carolyn Caire of Evansville.
Drake closes out its
fall campaign at the ITA Regional (Oct. 21-25) in Norman, Okla.
