CEDAR FALLS, IOWA -- Senior Leyden Tolhurst (Auckland, New Zealand) finished second in the mile run to highlight action for the Drake men's track and field team in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the UNI-Dome Sunday.

Tolhurst was clipped at the wire by Northern Iowa's Thibault Vandenabeele by seven-hundreds of a second. Vandenabeele won the race in 4:14.88, while Tolhurst was clocked in 4:14.95. Drake freshman Matt Jurysta (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) was 15th in 4:36.30.

Freshman Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.), senior Marcus Gaines (Aurora, Colo.),  freshman Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) and junior Troy Kimberlin  (Rochester, Ill.) led Drake to a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:19.02.

Senior Josh Bangert (Washington, Mo.) was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 6.99 seconds.
