DES MOINES, IOWA - Drake men's
soccer coach
Sean Holmes has added a pair of experienced coaches to his staff for the 2009 season.
Casey Mann, the 2009 Premier Developmental League Coach of the Year with
the Des Moines Menace, will serve as a volunteer coach and mentor the Bulldogs
goalkeepers, while Justin Vorster, who has previous experience in Iowa Youth
and African soccer, will work as Drake's second assistant coach.
"We're very fortunate to be adding two coaches with such deep and rich
soccer backgrounds that help make our players better," Holmes commented. "To come up with two 'A' licensed
coaches that want to help develop our team and make us stronger and better is a
great stroke of luck for us."
Mann, who holds a United States Soccer Federation 'A' coaching license,
was the coach of the Des Moines Menace for five seasons and was named as the
2008 recipient of the Iowa Soccer Association Coach of the Year award. He has worked the last three campaigns
mentoring the goalkeepers at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, while
previously serving in the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach at the
University of Arizona from 2001-03.
Vorster, also owns a United States Soccer Federation 'A' coaching
license, and has been actively involved in the Iowa Olympic Development Soccer
Program since 1999. He helped
manage the youth developmental program for the Ankeny Soccer Program from
2005-2008.
Mann, Vorster and the rest of the Bulldog
coaching staff will guide Drake against Marquette on Sunday (Sept. 6) at the
Cownie Soccer Complex. Game time
against the Golden Eagles is slated for 7:00 p.m.
