AMES, IOWA -- Drake suffered through a 10 minute 35 second drought without a basket in the first half and Iowa State took advantage en route to a 91-43 victory before a crowd of 12,988 fans Wednesday night.

Seth VanDeest (Bettendorf, Iowa) tied the game at 8-8 with 15:45 left, the Bulldogs missed their next 14 shots
Iowa State parlayed Drake's dry spell into a 23-3 run to push its lead to 31-11 before a rebound layup by sophomore transfer
Jordan Clarke (Rockville, Md.) with 5:10 left ended Drake's drought without a basket.
Drake finished the game, shooting just 22.4 percent from the floor, making 13 of 58 shots.
"We ran into a team that was on a roll, stayed on a roll and we helped the roll by taking tough shots," said Drake head coach
Mark Phelps. "Iowa State played with a lot of energy and we had some careless turnovers."
Drake committed 20 turnovers and Iowa State scored 26 points off the miscues.
Iowa State junior guard Scott Christopherson was perfect from the floor, making all 11 field goal attempts, including five three-point baskets, to finish with a career-high 29 points.
"We rushed shots and consequently we were taking tough shots," Phelps added. "They were making their outside shots and we didn't establish a paint presence. Iowa State was playing fast and their transition offense was a big key."

Rayvonte Rice (Champaign, Ill.) and junior transfer guard
Kurt Alexander (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) led Drake with eight points apiece.
Clarke collected a team-high eight rebounds for Drake. Senior guard
Ryan Wedel (Minneapolis, Kan.) had three steals for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will have a week to prepare for their next game against Southern Utah Nov. 24 in the opening round of the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.
