WICHITA, KAN. - The Drake women's tennis team saw its campaign come to an end following a 4-0 setback versus Southern Illinois on Friday (April 23) at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

The Salukis earned the only point they ultimately needed securing victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles positions.

Southern Illinois continued its momentum earning wins at the Nos. 1, 5 and 6 slots to advance to the semifinals for a date with Illinois State on Saturday (April 24).

The final outcome was deceiving as Drake maintained leads in the remaining three contests left unfinished, including junior Jessica Labarte (Barcelona, Venezuela) holding match point in her tilt with Martina Vianna Ce at No. 4.
