DES MOINES, IOWA - Led by the tandem of senior
Mauricio Ballivian (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and sophomore
James McKie
(Edinburgh, England) capturing the doubles crown, the Drake men's tennis posted
a 9-4 mark in day one of the Drake Fall Invitational on Friday (Sept. 17) at
the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Ballivian and McKie posted three victories to reach the
finals of the doubles draw before besting sophomore teammates Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) and Ryan Drake (Hilton Head
Island, S.C.), 8-4, in the title tilt.
Also posting at least one doubles win for Drake were the
tandems of juniors Sean O'Grady (Tempe, Ariz.) and Jonathan Hadash (Lapid, Israel) and the
mixed-doubles team of sophomore Mark Fouad (Cairo, Egypt) and Creighton's
Lorenz Laurel.
The Bulldogs continue competition at the Drake Fall
Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 18) with the start of singles play commencing
at 9:00 a.m.
