NOVEMBER 22, 2011

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drake seniors Matt Kuhn (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South), Thomas Ostrander (Fort Dodge, Iowa/St. Edmond Catholic) and Hunter Kennedy (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) along with sophomores Nick Marshall (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) and Garrett Crall (Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk) garnered All-Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete accolades when the league announced its annual plaudits.

Pulling in first-team laurels for the Bulldogs were Kuhn, Ostrander and Marshall, while Crall and Kennedy were honorable mention selections.

Drake had a conference-best three student-athletes on the first team with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.

Becoming only the fifth Bulldog to earn first-team accolades three times was Kuhn, who collected honors in 2008, 2009 and this season.

An accounting major, Kuhn was a unanimous first-team choice owning a 4.00 graduate school GPA. He led the team in goals (11), points (26) and game-winners (3), while sitting third in shots (44) and shots on goal (20) en route to being tabbed to the All-MVC first team.  Kuhn was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District first team.

Joining him on the first team were Ostrander, who maintains a 4.00 graduate school GPA in accounting, and Marshall, who owns a 4.0 GPA in health sciences.

Ostrander led the team in shots (46) and shots on goal (23), while ranking second in assists (4) and goals (5) en route to earning second team All-MVC accolades.  He was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District first team.

Appearing in all 20 games, including 17 starts this season, Marshall recorded two goals on eight shots from his defender's slot.  He too was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District first team.

Rounding out Drake's selections were Crall and Kennedy, who were honorable mention recipients.

A starter in all 18 games he appeared, Kennedy boasts a 3.61 GPA in health sciences and owned two goals and three assists on 21 shots, including 11 on goal en route to earning second team All-MVC honors.  He was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District first team.

Owning a 3.77 GPA in accounting, Crall started all 19 games he appeared in, registering eight shots, including three on goal from his defender's slot en route to helping Drake to record three shutouts, all against league opponents.
