ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Four
members of Drake women's soccer team garnered All-Missouri Valley Conference
honors when the league announced its annual plaudits at the tournament banquet
in Springfield, Mo., on Thursday evening (Nov. 3).
Sophomore Megan Fisher (Ankeny,
Iowa/Ankeny) was honored as a first team All-MVC selection, while junior Laura Moklestad (Des Moines,
Iowa/Roosevelt) and sophomore Kalena Litch (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) collected second team All-MVC
recognition. Pulling in All-Freshman team laurels was Tori Flynn (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Joseph
Academy).
The Bulldogs also shared the MVC Fair Play award with Illinois State for
the fewest cards received during league play.
After earning All-Freshman laurels a year ago, Fisher was chosen as a
first-team recipient. A threat at both ends of the field for the Bulldogs, she
helped anchor a defensive unit that posted two shutouts, while being involved
in 14 one-goal games. Offensively,
she provided a goal on 12 shots.
Moklestad captured All-MVC honors for the third time after being named
to the first team as a sophomore and to the All-Freshman squad as a rookie in
2009. She registered team-leading
marks in goals (4), points (9), shots (47), shots on goal (24), and in
game-winners (1).
Moklestad is rated sixth in the MVC in
shots per contest (2.50), seventh in goals (4) and ninth in goals per game
(0.22), while finishing fourth in game-winning goals (1) and ninth in shots
(15) in league-only games.
Litch had a strong sophomore campaign in net for the Bulldogs, recording
a single-season school record for saves with 132, while owning a 1.34 goals
against average and two shutouts.
Litch ranks first, second, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the MVC in
saves per game (7.06), save percentage (.830), shutouts (0.11) and goals
against average (1.35), while finishing first in saves per game (8.00), third
in save percentage (.857), and fifth in goals against average (1.29) and in
shutouts (0.17) in league-only tilts.
Flynn crafted a stellar rookie campaign from her defender's slot,
helping anchor a defensive unit that posted two shutouts, while being involved
in 14 one-goal games.
