What's Ahead: The Drake men's track and field team, in
its first meet of the indoor season, will travel to Ames, Iowa to compete in
the Iowa State Holiday Classic on Friday (Dec. 9). Field events kick off the
meet at 2 p.m., while the running events start at 4 p.m. at the Lied Recreation
Center.
A Year Ago: Dan Karys (Bartlett, Ill.) won the
long jump and the triple jump to open up the Drake men's track and field team's
season at the Iowa State Holiday Preview on Dec. 10, 2010
Karys jumped 22 feet 4.25 inches to claim the long jump title and soared
46 feet 4.75 inches to win the triple jump.
Matt Jurysta (Oshawa, Ontario) finished
third (8:58.52) in the 3000-meter race.
Drake had three of the top four performers in the 300-meter dash as Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.,) Brett Wright (Longmont, Colo.) and Travis Marsh (Ankeny, Iowa) finished
second, third and fourth respectively. DeGrave ran a time of 34.79, Wright ran
35.04 and Marsh finished in 35.47.
Up Next: Drake will have a long hiatus before its next meet on Jan. 14, when
the Bulldogs travel to Vermillion, S.D. to partake in the Graphic Edge Meet.
